Dialogue about life decisions

A: So.

B: So?

A: It’s up to you.

B: Me?

A: Yeah it’s your choice

B: I need help though, I don’t know what I want to do.

A: How come? What’s going through your head?

B: Racism…

A: What do you mean?

B: There’s been a lot of crap going on down there. And these school’s aren’t necessarily in the best places. Atlanta, Detroit, Wisconsin… they’re not necessarily ideal.

A: That’s true but you can’t think of it like that. It’ll be a great opportunity for you to achieve your dreams.

B: I know it would be. But how could I not think of that stuff. There’s people dying over there for absolutely no real reason aside from there skin colour.

A: Yeah I guess that’s true but it’s just one of those things that you have to go through.

B: Do I really have to go through it though? I shouldn’t have to… There’s other ways, there has to be.

A: There are other ways, it’s just that they’re harder.

B: I didn’t expect it to be something easy to do.

A: Well it seems like you have your mind pretty much made up.

B: I don’t really… I’m just scared it’ll be a waste of time and money and it doesn’t work out.

A: That’s true. But think of it this way, if you go down there and it doesn’t work, it’ll be an even bigger waste of time and money.

B: I just don’t know. Everyday my opinion changes. It sucks I can’t even believe he was elected.

A: He was though, so that says enough about the majority of the people over there. For the most part they’re either racist, arrogant, ignorant, or just uneducated.

B: It’s kinda scary to be honest. I remember when we went last year to Indiana, coach kept all of the black kids on the bus and told us that we had to extra respectful, and avoid going out in groups especially at night. We didn’t really think anything of it but that stuff is serious down there. There’s a lot of dumb ways to easily lose your life.

A: Their heads aren’t screwed on properly over there.

B: It’s the gun laws. After the eighth school shooting there resolution was to give more guns to people rather than getting rid of them. What good is going to do giving it to teachers. So that they can have the responsibility of shooting the kids now? This stuff is ridiculous.

A: You’re thinking too much about it.

B: I have to I want to live a full life.
