Hearing from someone like George Elliott Clarke who has made a living and centred his whole life around writing and poetry was inspiring because of the passion he had for what he does. It was evident in the way he spoke that he is currently living his dream and truly doing what he loves.

He had us do certain activities which involved us writing our own short poems and told us the thought process he has when writing poems about anything. Doing that showed me that it's a unique talent to organize your words in such an authentic way and still produce a deep overall message to the readers is something that I feel is underrated.

I'll admit at times, it was a little awkward and/or "cringe" with how passionate he was considering how passionate we were for the same thing. I think that goes to show that somethings look better on paper than they do when spoken aloud.
